I got the one dud,
by Sam, 2010-04-29
I bought the TV from BB. It looked great at the store. At home, I noticed that the blacks weren't all too black. I made a number of changes to the settings and there was no way I could get deep black.
I also noticed that the screen would flicker from dead black when the TV wasn't receiving a signal (during a TV show) to dark gray. I called BB and they sent a tech out (no charge) to check out the TV. Sure enough, the tech confirmed that the TV couldn't get deep black -- it was a dud. I go back to BB and they said that they were out of stock (in the state where I live) of this TV since this model has been discontinued. I could get it shipped in from another state and pay shipping charges.
I've got another 30 days to exchange it for the 2010 63" Samsung plasma that supposed to be released in May, 2010. At least the new 2010 TV will weigh about 50 pounds less. The 2009 model weighs a ton but it has a great picture (aside from my dud).
I watch only at night so the brightness is set way down. I was surprised by how little heat the TV gives off especially after owning a large 2008 Sony LCD TV.
The picture quality for Blu-Ray on this TV is awesome. I watch mostly Blu-Ray and I can't imagine buying a TV like this for watching DVDs or non hi-def television.
If the 2010 Samsung model doesn't come out within the 30 day money back window, then I'll return it to BB and buy it from Amazon.
Very nice picture,

This TV has lived up to everything I'd hoped. It has a suppurb picture with dark blacks. The picture is one of the best out there. That being said, there aren't any software "extras" on the tv. There are no yahoo widgets or streaming netflix or anything like that. What you do get is a very tunable picture that looks great showing whatever you put on it. If you have a TiVo, PS3 or Xbox 360, then you don't need the software addons anyway. Also, It's one of few TVs of this size and quality that have a swivel base. Bottom line... I'm very satisfied with this set.
Great TV; Horrible Shipping,
by Play Harder!, 2010-03-05
TV arrived two weeks ago. Very happy with the unit, and feel that it was a real value at the price offered by Amazon. Shipper called to schedule delivery. We scheduled a date/time when I was home to direct it's placement. When the driver arrived, and she got out of the Van, without any help ... to delivery a 134lb TV ... well how could this go well? I run out to help, and to my horror, while trying to place the box on a dolly, she DROPS THE TV OUT OF THE VAN AND ON IT'S SIDE. Forgive the caps; I was speachless. Since I work in the transportation business, I know that Plasma's are shipped standing for a reason! They should never be laided on their side (or for that matter dropped out of a Van on their side). If my wife had been home, she probably would have shipped it back unboxed, but I am too much of a nice guy ... and so I helped carry it in the house and place it on a tall stand. To my amazement, the TV has worked well so far. I am watching it closely and it needs to be calibrated. I love you Amazon, but please tell your shippers to send TWO employees out to delivery anything over 100lb.
So kids the moral of the story is ... when the Shipper calls, make sure to ASK for two delivery people. Don't assume, like I did, that common sense will prevail. More often than not, you will be disappointed.
I Like This TV, So Much That I Will Complement It With Selected Compatible Samsung Accessories,
by BRJR, 2010-02-26
I purchased this TV, three days ago from Amazon.com; and, it was delivered to my home on the third day from the time I ordered it online. Excellent and very quick service from Amazon.com. This TV, now replaces a 65" rear projection Sony HDTV, that was down in my living room. TV, was delivered this morning; and, within two hours, the local Satellite/TV company that services my C-Band/Ku Band Satellite TV System, and 12 feet diameter, outdoors Satellite Dish, came over and made sure everything was working optimally with both the HDTV free over air channels in my area, and the 19 (nineteen) satellites I have programmed into my system (W3,GB,T6,G3,T5,G4,W4,W1,W5,M2,M5,T7,G0,G5,G9,C3,G1,C4,W7). I like being able to instantly tune into national and global television programming, of my choice; and, my Samsung PN63B590, fits in very well with how I now do all of this, including how I now use my second Apple TV unit that's attached via HDMI to this Samsung PN63B590. My other Apple TV unit, is attached via HDMI to a Sony 42" Plasma Screen HDTV, located in my upstairs master bedroom (large room, with large sitting area). In fact, when the 2010 Samsung 65" Plasma screen TV's arrive around the end of June 2010, I'll likely purchase one for this room; and, move the smaller screen Sony, just mentioned as being located in this room, over to a guest room.
Great overall,

Received last weekend. Love the picture. WAY better color and black levels than my old Sony KDF-55. One thing I wish was better is the glare. Screen is fairly reflective and I read somewhere that it is addressed on some higher end models. Only improvement I would make.
